Mykonos: Kiki's hidden gem

Mykonos: Kiki's hidden gem

By now it's not really a secret anymore. Kiki's is Mykonos' cutest, friendliest and most delicious taverna hidden underneath the shade of low trees on top of Agios Sostis bay.

Great view to Agios Sostis bay

I remember getting there for the first time when a friend of mine had recommended that I try finding this quiet paradise for a delicious meal post beach. And I did. The queue was long and patrons were standing around this small establishment's entrance, some sitting on handmade stools and others lurking over the pork chops sizzling on the BBQ grill which sits right in front of you as you walk in.

Food at Kiki's taverna is quite amazing. Simple, yet quite amazing. There may be a small wait (cater for 30mins to be honest) which can be even harder with all the smells fuming out on you... but then again, patience is a virtue. Especially when waiting takes place in the middle of the afternoon of a scorching day right after a dip in the sea that has definitely worked your appettite.

Try the BBQ grilled pork chop or the BBQ grilled butterfly chicken (if you wanna go softer on the meat). The grilled aubergine -served hot- is sprinkled with fresh onions, garlic and walnuts and can go a long way with some ouzo. There's also a variety of rustic-chic salads that you can choose from (tip: you can have a look at the bar if you're not too lazy to go inside). Otherwise go for a classic tomato salad, served with caper leaves and xinomizithra (Mykonos local dry cheese). Ugh!

Sit back, relax and enjoy this moment in time. It can only happen once (or twice if you're lucky) every year.
