Hohlidaki is not your typical new-age meze tavern trying to replicate the good ol' vibes of the Greek cuisine. It is an authentic and long-standing joint beautifully decorated with the best of Greece and a range of regional meze from all over the sunkissed country.
Set in a quiet place of Neo Psychiko, Hohlidaki has moved from its original location in Halandri where it first got established 30 years ago. The restaurant has a very long menu of ouzo and tsipouro, from various sides of the country, and it also complements this with a changing (every 2-3 months) regional meze from certain places of Greece. When we last visited we delved into delicacies from Northern Greece and enjoyed things like haivar, the red velvet pepper puree from Florina, manirated anchovies from Thessaloniki and kavourmadopitta from Kerkini lake. If you're one of those that can't really decide what to have, then you'll be pleased to know that waiters visit your table showcasing the best cold meze for you to choose!
Obviously, we did our best on the rest of the menu, enjoying some fried red mullets -yummy-, fried zucchini and a delicious peinirli with soutzouki. Everything was great and the service was not bad either, despite them being ultra busy on a sunny Saturday afternoon. What's more is that they also have a menu inspired by Constantipole, offering many classics like fried eggs with tomato, kaseri cheese and pastourmas! Oh what a delight! Coupled with a very atmospheric and lush patio outside, Hohlidaki is a perfect choice for a quiet night out!
