Mongolia's post office last week announced that its replacing house numbers and street addresses and instead opting to refer to locations using a series of three words.
And it's no surprise really if you think that more than 75% of the world’s 7.4 billion people don't have a reliable mailing address. A British start-up
what3words, launched in 2013 with $500k in seed funding and the goal of changing how the world thinks about and communicates location.
The three-year-old company,
what3words, has divided the planet into 57 trillion 3×3-meter squares and assigned each square a unique combination of three words. Each of these locations are given a pre-allocated name consisting of 3 words that are easier to remember than GPS coordinates. So, pretty simple really.
